Katherine Swetman has an extensive background in communications and government relations. A cum laude graduate from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Journalism, Katherine earned a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Georgia. As Chevron Public & Government Affairs Communication Specialist, she was a lobbyist and directed internal and external communications for the company in Mississippi.

She worked in communication capacities for former Senator Trent Lott in Washington, DC, Governor Haley Barbour, and Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Mike Randolph. For many years, Katherine owned Swetman Photography, a successful boutique studio focused on custom heirloom portraiture. She was previously co-owner of CURRENT creative marketing.

Katherine is President ex-officio of the Ocean Springs Education Foundation and First Vice President of Jackson County Republican Women. She serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the the Board of Directors of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi, and the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee.

A native of Pascagoula, Katherine lives in Ocean Springs with her husband Tanner Swetman, originally of Biloxi, and sons Clark, age 13, and Andrew, age 11. They’re active members of First Presbyterian Church in Ocean Springs.
